9th Week to 12th Week Pregnancy (3 Month) – First Trimester 

In this stage embryo rapidly grows and develops into a fetal form. In the ultrasound, the sex of the fetus can be easily determined in 90% of cases. 

There are lots of changes to see in a pregnant woman’s body. For example:

  • Mental / Emotional/ Physical Changes: Breasts become larger in the first trimester. Uterus expands and feels discomfort and a little bit of contractions. Constipation and urination increased. But in sometimes, you feel excited and exhausted as well. 
  • Fetus Size: In the ultrasound, you can see that your baby or fetus’s size is like a plum.

  • Fetus Development: Embryo develops into a fetus, and facial features such as limbs, fingers, and toes appear.  Bones, muscles, and other key structures are well-formed.

Week 9: In the 9th week, if you observe or feel some pain in your breast. This is because your breasts are getting larger, and women often feel discomfort with these changes. 

Week 10: Hands, fingers, feet, and arms are already fully developed. In the 10th week of pregnancy, fingernails, toenails, and hair are growing.

Week 11: Baby’s Heart is developing. In the 11th week of pregnancy, the baby’s knees, elbows, and ankles are working, and the mother feels kicks. 

Week 12: Some necessary tests are performed in the 12th week of pregnancy, because it’s very important for both mother and baby. In this stage, if this test happens, any syndrome can be diagnosed and treated before it’s too late. Digestive and urinary systems are also working.

  • Maternal blood test + Ultrasound of the baby
  • Down syndrome
  • Edward syndrome

So overall, pregnant women completed their first trimester.
