Welcome to the third trimester, which is the last milestone of pregnancy. This is a crucial time of final growth and preparation for both you and your baby before birth. The desire to meet your baby grows stronger, and the last few weeks can feel very long.

Physical /Emotional Changes :
- Larger Baby Bump: With a big belly, it is very uncomfortable to manage various tasks, such as sleeping and experiencing back pain. Nap when you can, and prioritize sleep. Use pillows to support your belly and between your knees. Wear supportive shoes and a maternity support belt if you have back pain. Choose loose, comfortable clothing.
- Braxton Hicks Contractions: Your energy levels will likely dip. Listen to your body. Backaches and Braxton Hicks “practice” contractions.
- Rapid Weight Gain: The baby is putting on fat, which will help them stay warm after birth. They will nearly double in weight during this month.
- Be Patient: Whether your baby is healthy, you feel anxious and exhausted during this time period. But focus on bringing calmness and practicing long breathing.
Tip: Need More Rest: Rest, Rest, Rest: This is the most important thing you can do for yourself and your baby.
Baby Development from 29 to 32 Weeks
- Week 29: Baby’s weight is about 2.5 lbs (1.1 kg) – the size of a butternut squash. The brain is developing rapidly, and the head is growing to accommodate this growth. Muscles and lungs are maturing.
- Week 30: Baby’s weight is about 3 lbs (1.4 kg). The eyes can open and close, and they can now distinguish light from dark. The body is starting to look plumper as fat layers build up.
- Week 31: Baby’s weight is about 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg). The baby is going through major brain and nerve development. They can now turn their head from side to side.
- Week 32: Baby’s weight is about 4 lbs (1.8 kg) – the size of a large jicama. Lanugo (the fine hair) starts to fall off. The baby is practicing breathing, sucking, and swallowing. Around 32 weeks, many babies start to move into the head-down position to get ready for birth.
